We hope your New Year is off to a fabulous start! One of our resolutions was to get back into shape, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. Training for races are a great way to motivate you to get into shape! Tutus and Tennies 5K is a fun way to help support Dance Unlimited in Buda! This Hays County race will take off promptly at 7:30am on January 30th at Dance Unlimited, 1019 Main Street. Be sure to wear your tutus for even more fun! Race day, Walk up registration is available from 6:15am-7:15am, and early packet pickup/registration is available January 29th at Dance Unlimited from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Come help support global missions outreach of the Connection Church in Buda, get your fitness on, and have a blast with your family! The “For the Love of It” 5K will be held February 13 at 8:00am at the Connection Church. In addition to the 5k, there will be music, inflatables for the kids, and refreshments. This race is chip timed, and pets, strollers, and an awesome time are all welcome! The 2016 San Marcos 5k Stampede will be on 2/20/16 at 8am and it will be located at McCoy’s Corporate Headquarters. The official chip-timed 5k Stampede and 3 different Mile Fun Runs are sure to thrill! You’ll receive a Stampede Swag-Bag filled with a free race shirt, bandana, and other great goodies! They will also have local and a post-race party! The proceeds from registration fees go to support the National Volunteer Caregiving Network. The Science Hall Elementary Sun Run 5K supports Student Council of Science Hall Elementary. It will be held on Saturday, 2/27/16 at 8am. This race is kid friendly. It is chip timed and awards will be given to the Top 3 male/female in the following groups:Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Join us for The Master’s School Dash-4-Victory 5k and Kids fun run on 2/27/16 in San Marcos, TX. This local Hays County race benefits The Master’s School. The costs for the 5K are $25 for runners that register prior to race day, 5k Race Day Registration is $35 and the Kids Fun Run is $15. All early registrants guaranteed t-shirt (please register by Wednesday, February 13th to guarantee your size). Help support the Negley Elementary school PTA in Kyle by participating in the Negley Run in Plum Creek on March 5th at the Negley Elementary school. Participants can chose to run/walk in a 5, 3, or 1k. Race Day Packet Pick up and walk up registration begins at 7:00 a.m, 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 3K/1K start about 9:00 a.m. Cost for 5K is $25 for adults and $15 for students 18 and under (discounted rate based on age will calculate during checkout). 3K is $15 for all participants; 1K is $10 for all participants. Like a bit of refreshment with your run? Twisted X Brewing Company in Dripping Springs, will be hosting their Twisted 5K on March 5th, 8:00am – 12:00pm. This event starts and finishes at Twisted X Brewing Co and runs the rural streets east of beautiful Dripping Springs, TX and finishes with a great post race party with beer tasting, food trucks and music. Proceeds are given to Thundering Paws of Dripping Springs. Strollers are welcome on the course, and beer tastings are available for non-runners as well. The 32nd annual Moe’s Better Half Marathon 2016 in San Marcos will be held at the Tanger Outlet Center on Sunday, March 6th 2016. Over the last 32 years, Moe’s Better Half Marathon has evolved into one of the more popular road races in central Texas. Named after San Marcos running guru and race director Dr. Moe Johnson, MBHM is known for its challenging and scenic course and often colorful race management. The proceeds from Moe’s Better Half Marathon will benefit Kiwanis charities and scholarships. The 2nd Annual Hays Rebel Run 5K takes place in the scenic surroundings of Mountain City, Texas on Saturday April 2, 2016. The race starts at the west end of city hall and continues throughout the city, ending back at city hall. At the finish there will be a post race festivities with entertainment. The race will begin at 8am and only those that register before 3/26/16 will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Want to train for the Zombie Apocalypse and support research on cancer and Alzheimer’s disease? Well, here is your chance with the 5K Run Dead in Dripping Springs! On March 12th from 2:00pm -6:00pm at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park, come test your zombie survival skills as you run a zombie-infested course. Runners will have health flags handed to them at the beginning of the race, and the zombies will try and steal them. You must have at least one flag at the end of the race, or you will become one of the walking dead! All participants receive a free 5KRunDead t-shirt, finisher medal, race bib, temp tattoo, refreshments, a chance at great prizes, and entrance to the 5KRunDead Recovery Party (a celebration of zombies, music, and dancing). You have time to get ready for this one! The Doggie Dash 5K and fun Walk will take place on April 24th at 8:00am and will help raise funds for the PAWS animal Shelter in Kyle! Bring your leashed pooch, and family to the Buda City park for some howling good fun. Cost of entry is $25 for adults, $15 for kids 12 and under, and $10 for fun walk and tee shirt. Kick off our annual Front Porch Days events! Funds raised from this race are used to bring free activities to the neighborhood of Plum Creek. This local Hays County race is on Saturday, May 14th, starting at 7am. This race will start at Negley Elementary in Plum Creek and has 4 different races to choose from. Cost of entry is $20 for the 10k, $15 for the 5k/3k and $10 for the 1k. Enjoy a challenging course that covers much of Plum Creek! For added fun, this run will include some color stations, along the course. You can take a side path and avoid the color, or go right through the middle of it! Popsicles provided by Lone Star Delights will reward the participants at the finish line. Three distances to choose from – walk, jog, or run – WITH COLOR! The course will split at each color station for those who wish to avoid color. The race will be held on Monday, July 4th at Negley Elementary in Plum Creek at 7am. The 4 miler is $20, 3k is $15 and the 1k is $10 for all participants. Part of the annual Hootenanny on the Hill festivities! Enjoy a 10K, 5K, 3K or 1K Fun Run at Fairway Fields (450 Haupt) in Plum Creek on Saturday, October 8th. Start and Finish at Dog Park, near Fairway and Haupt, Kyle, Tx 78640. They will try to do age group awards (10 year age brackets, 3 deep, male and female) as each division finishes – 5K, 10K, 3K – as much as is feasible. 1K and all 12 and under finishers of any race will receive a finisher award. Plum Creek Challenge participants will be awarded their shirt and medals at the same time as the division awards.
