Blair House Inn 2017 Vintner Dinner Series

We’re very excited to announce our 16th annual Vintner Dinner Series! Owners Chris & Lois Mahoney continue this tradition of collaborating with Texas wineries to create a delightful evening of fine dining with wine pairing. Our Vintner Dinner Series has long been a favorite of guests of the Inn and local residents as an opportunity to enjoy gourmet food in an intimate, romantic environment and learn the winemaking process.
Saturday Evenings from January 14th to February 25th, vintners and/or their representatives will join us to talk about their winery, their winemaking process and the unique character of the wines they create. Blair House Executive Chef, Chris Huffman, will prepare a memorable 5-course gourmet dinner. Creating innovative dishes entirely from scratch, Chef Chris will design his menu specifically to highlight the flavors of the various wines being offered.
January 14, 2017 – Stone House Vineyard, Spicewood, TX
The name Stone House Vineyard suggests permanence and durability, two qualities owners Angela and Howard Moench undoubtedly espouse in their winemaking and grape growing. At Stone House they believe excellence in winemaking is about exploration and integrity.
January 21, 2017 – Kerrville Hills Winery, Kerrville, TX
Kerrville’s first winery is situated at the top of a hill high above Kerrville and the Guadalupe River Valley. The winery and tasting room are built on the footprint of a 1960’s Kerrville homestead. Come visit their tasting room and enjoy wines in a relaxing and fun Texas environment. They offer wine tastings, wine by the glass, winery tours, events, indoor & outdoor seating, gift shop, and windows to the winery.
January 28, 2017 – Texas Hills Vineyard, Johnson City, TX
The rolling hills and the soil are much like that of the Tuscan countryside, in Italy. Once Kathy and Gary saw the location that makes the Texas Hills Vineyard they decided to have an Italian influence to their wines. All of the grapes grown allow wines to be produced with a decidedly Italian influence. Dale manages the vineyard and works to produce the highest quality Texas grapes with which to produce the wine. Gary takes what is produced and oversees the wine. Kathy manages the tasting room and invites you to drop by and sample wines and shop the gift shop.
February 4, 2017 – Singing Water Vineyards, Comfort, TX
The name Singing Water describes the wonderful sound that fills the air as the waters of Bruins creek cascade over the waterfall on the property. Recently they received Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for all 6 wines entered in Houston, San Francisco, San Antonio and the Lone Star International Wine Competitions. Their Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Sunrise, Merlot, Texas Reserve, Freedom and Sweet Lupe are becoming very well known throughout the Texas Hill Country and beyond! The winery offers beautiful scenic grounds with picnic areas which host many art and music events throughout the year.
February 11, 2017 – Westcave Cellars Winery, Round Mountain, TX
Just 30 minutes from Austin, Westcave Cellars Winery is nestled in the oaks along scenic Hamilton Pool Road. The winery is a few miles west of Hamilton Pool Preserve, Reimers Ranch, and Westcave Preserve. Whether you are sightseeing at one of these local parks or traveling to the wineries in Fredericksburg, Dripping Springs and Driftwood, They invite you to visit Westcave Cellars.
February 18, 2017 – Dry Comal Creek Vineyards, New Braunfels, TX
From a fledgling winery in 1998, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards now produces 8,000 cases a year, with expansion plans to produce 12,000. With only 5 acres of good soil, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards focuses on growing Black Spanish, which is resistant to Pierce’s disease. While we grow only one grape variety, don’t let that fool you. Dry Comal Creek has developed a series of award-winning specialty wines including French Colombard (Demi-Sweet and Bone Dry), Orange Muscat, White Black Spanish, Comal Red, Black Spanish and 1096 Port – each of them spectacular in their own right and meant to be drinkable now.
February 25, 2017 – Pontotoc Vineyard, Fredericksburg, TX
Pontotoc Vineyard was established in the unique terroir of the Llano Uplift in the Northern Hill Country community of Pontotoc, Mason County, Texas. Pontotoc means “Land of Hanging Grapes” and the vineyard was planted in the fertile red sand soil of a high valley surrounded by pink granite outcroppings and sandstone hills on a farm originally founded by the German Emigration Company in 1872.
