San Marcos Saturday Farmer’s Market (FREE) (San Marcos) – San Marcos Farmers Market is operated by San Marcos Farmers Market Association, a non-profit organization which provides an
outlet for Central Texas farmers to market their crops and a source of fresh, homegrown and homemade products for the local consumer

Buda’s Downtown Farmer’s Market (FREE) (Buda) – Saturday Market – 9am-12:30 PM Located across from Garcia’s Restaurant, Main Street, Buda. Free parking and restrooms available. Open year round. Artisans Market every 3rd.

Mermaid Downtown Parade (FREE) (San Marcos) This all-inclusive city parade celebrates our history of the Aquamaids of Aquarena Springs and immortalizes the mermaid as guardians of the San Marcos River. The parade line-up starts at the corner of CM Allen and Cheatham Street and offers plenty of viewing options along the route. The fun continues at the Mermaid Aqua Faire immediately following the parade at the San Marcos Main Park Plaza.  All within walking distance from downtown, the whole family can enjoy this FREE community festival of art, live music, food, and fun! Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Mermaid Aqua Faire (San Marcos) (FREE)  The fun kicks into full gear following the Mermaid Down Parade from 10:00 – noon! The San Marcos River serves as the beautiful backdrop to this fun filled FREE festival that has something for Merfolk of all ages. The Mermaid Aqua Faire starts right after the downtown parade and continues the celebration at San Marcos Plaza Park!

Buda-Kyle Young Life Barn Dance (Buda) Get your dancin’ boots on and come join the fun at our 1st annual BARN DANCE!! We will have LIVE MUSIC from the one and only JOHN WAYNE AND THE BOBCATS! Food, carnival games, prizes and much more!! Bring your family, friends, neighbors, EVERYONE! It will be such a fun night, see you there!! The cost is $5 per ticket or $20 per family! All money raised goes directly to benfiting Buda-Kyle Young Life! Money will be collected at the door!

Country Roads 10k and Kids Fun Run (San Marcos) The 14th annual Country Roads 10K & Kids Run is the oldest 10K in San Marcos, Texas – the heart of the Texas Hill Country. We offer a challenging course in a closed-in, rural subdivision, a great T-shirt and some nice door prizes in addition to the awards. And the race is managed by experienced volunteers from Core Running Company and the San Marcos Runners Club; a race put on by runners for everyone! Register now or the morning of!

Protecting Kids, Preserving Nature (Buda) (FREE)   HCWC and Hays Communities YMCA are partnering for a free, event this September that’s all about kids! Join us to participate in outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing and archery, all under the guidance of YMCA Staff. Educational presentations will be given by HCWC Staff on Healthy Relationships in the Digital Age, teaching children how to be safe on the internet, and body safety.

Austin Bakes for Harvey (Austin Area) A citywide sale to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief! Join us as we raise funds for our neighbors in and around Houston and on the Texas coast. Nate’s in Buda and Whole Foods Market in Bee caves will be participating, but if you’ll be out and about, be sure to check the full list of locations!

Paddle with a Purpose – Sights and Sounds Foundation (San Marcos) Come out and Compete in the 3rd Annual, Paddle for A Purpose! The race begins at San Marcos City Park outside the Lions Club facility, and finishes at Texas State Tubes (in Martindale), and is approximately 7.36 miles down-river. The competitors will face challenges including whitewater rapids, portages, and navigating past other competitors. The race will end at Texas State Tubes where there will be an award ceremony, BBQ, and Music. Best of all, the proceeds go to support Sights & Sounds Foundation, a San Marcos Charity who’s primary mission is to support the Sights & Sounds of Christmas Festival.
