High School Football (ALL) What’s more Texan than high school football? Support your team during some of the last games of the season and make a night of it by tailgating!

The Bad Seed (SAN MARCOS) The Black Diamond Cabaret Theatre will present its fall production just in time for Halloween, with the classic thriller, The Bad Seed, in the historic 1910 Room at the Price Center.  The play and 1950’s film, which is based on a story by Maxwell Anderson and is considered an icon in the suspense thriller genre, Audiences of all ages will enjoy this dark story of a “typical young couple” with an eight-year-old daughter living a charmed and happy life that is not what it seems. The Bad Seed will run through Nov. 5 with both evening and matinee performances.

Winter Polespear (SAN MARCOS) Atlas Environmental is very excited to bring you another opportunity to take part in the Habitat Conservation Plan by removing invasive fish and snails by entering the Winter Polespear Tournament.

Friday Night Polo Series (KYLE) This Friday starts our “Friday Polo Series” that will continue every Friday throughout the Fall. Polo starts at 6:30 pm. It’s FREE admission. Bring your family and friends out for a fun entertaining time. Speak to us about lessons or how to get your kids involved with polo. “County Line Polo, Where Rustic Meets Polo”

Lost River Film Festival (SAN MARCOS) Lost River Film Fest is a four-day film festival featuring concerts, interactive events, workshops, and, of course, films. Some of the films include indie cinema, internationally culled short films, features and TV/web content. The many events taking place during the festival will be held at different locations around San Marcos. One of the most unique showing locations will be the Wonder World Cave, where you can view When We Burn Out, which was filmed at Wonder World Cave. The film’s maker, Vanessa Pla, will be in attendance for a Q&A session following the film. The showing will start November 3 at 7 pm CST.

No No: A Dockumentary (SAN MARCOS)  NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY recounts the experiences of major-league pitcher Dock Ellis — best known for throwing a no-hitter while hallucinating on LSD, but also a flashy figure in pop culture & the Black empowerment struggle. Self-dubbed the “Mohammad Ali of Baseball,” Ellis defied white supremacist threats throughout the tumultuous 60s & 70s. After a fight with drug dependency, he devoted the latter part of his life to assisting those who grapple with addiction. Nominated for Grand Jury Prize at 2014 Sundance Film Festival! Tickets: $10 for general public, $5 for students & locals who can furnish an ID or bill with 78666 zip code.

Texas State Homecoming 5K (SAN MARCOS) This event, held each year, is a run/walk race through San Marcos occurring on the biggest event weekend for Texas State- Homecoming. et your workout done with plenty of time to tailgate and support the football team! Join us in Sewell Park as we run, walk or jog through the beautiful park and Rio Vista. Free t-shirts and giveaways to all runners, prizes for winners and more! Click HERE to register.

Wheelz ‘n Reelz (SAN MARCOS) The “Wheelz”-A downtown spectacle, with bike ramps & BMX champs, as well as roller derby, skateboarders & Unicycle Football, overtaking a downtown block. The “Reelz” is a slew of Wheels-themed films shown inside Good Stuff Community Store. The “Wheelz”: Outside, River Rollers demo at 11:30 AM. face-painting & vendors! UFL demo around 3:45 PM; Superfoot will perform at 4 PM while a BMX demo unfolds; another BMX demo accompanies the music of Party Wizard at 6 PM.

Hill Country Fair (SAN MARCOS) A celebration of San Marcos art and culture for all ages. In addition to some fantastic bands, visual artists, and vendors there will be BBQ and a Beer tasting from our neighboring breweries. Tickets available HERE.

First Saturday Birding Hikes (SAN MARCOS)  (First Saturday of every month at sunrise) Interested in birding hikes? From water fowl to woodpeckers to hawks to songbirds – you never know which feathered friends will be spotted. Hikes are guided by Stephen Ramirez, a local photographer, and unicycle enthusiast. San Marcos Farmer’s Market (San Marcos) (FREE) The San Marcos Farmers Market is held every Saturday all year round. The Saturday Farmers Market happens on San Antonio St. between LBJ and Guadalupe Streets from 9am-1pm.

Buda Farmer’s Market (Buda) (FREE) The vision of the Downtown Buda farmers’ Market is to provide local residents and businesses of the community with the freshest, highest quality, most nutritious, and most reasonably priced local produce and goods. Saturday Market – 9am-12:30pm. Located across from Garcia’s Restaurant, Main Street, Buda.

Turkeys Tackling Hunger Fundraiser for Hays County Food Bank (KYLE) Kyle UMC has pledged to raise funds and food for the 11th annual Hays County Food Bank Turkeys Tackling Hunger campaign. Our goal is to help 15 ($450 total; $30 per family) families receive a full Thanksgiving meal. Keep track of our church-wide progress on the big thermometer that will be in the Fellowship Hall. We will be raising funds and collecting food for this event from October 1 thru November 12 but feel free to donate to the Hays County Food Bank year round.

A day with the Kids (ALL) There are so many free kids activities in Hays County that I love to explore. From parks, hiking trails, libraries, and even farmer’s markets. Let me share with you a few of my favorite gems around the county.

Date Night (BUDA/KYLE) There is plenty to do for a date night in Buda and Kyle, TX. Both towns are nestled along the I-35 corridor and offer several attractions and restaurants for a fun and exciting, or quiet and romantic date night. So grab your significant other, friend, spouse, or just go solo and enjoy these top date night locations in Buda and Kyle!
